About The Trail
About 27 acres bordering Fresh Pond … two fenced off dog recreation areas with benches and concrete conduits for the dogs to play in, on and around … a pair of white concrete guard rail posts mark the entrances of the Blue and Red Trails while the additional access to the Blue Trail is obscured by the dog exercise area … trails are marked with clearly visible plastic signs displaying white diamonds on a blue or red background … Red Trail goes out around small peninsula, Blue Trail parallels Route 134 and then loops back along shore … Blue Trail extension looks promising at first but then slowly deteriorates into deadfall and catbrier before becoming completely impassable … can be swampy, especially after a rain fall - trails lie along several run off routes from higher ground … area is a combination of wetlands and encroaching upland woods … several sections of triple-plank and stacked logs help to alleviate the mud problem but be prepared to get your feet wet … too short for a decent mountain bike ride or run, this is a good stop for a casual evening or lunch time wander … although peaceful along the water, you never escape the constant noise of traffic from 134 … land to the south is private so please respect boundaries
Getting There
Take Route 28 to Route 134 north and look for the small parking area on your left after about a mile. There is enough parking for about six cars with additional parking along the side of the road. From Route 6, take exit 9A and head south on Route 134 through three major intersections. After the third set of stoplights, the two lanes of Route 134 will converge to one lane and the parking area will be about a half mile on your right.
